Role Description This full-time, on-site Experienced Lathe Machinist role is based in Indianapolis, IN. The machinist will set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, selecting tooling, performing machine offsets and adjustments, and inspecting parts using measurement tools to ensure tight tolerances. The role also involves maintaining equipment, monitoring production processes for efficiency and safety, documenting work, and collaborating with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to resolve issues and improve processes. The machinist is expected to support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
3-5 years of previous lathe machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with CNC lathes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Knowledge of cutting tools, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and machining practices.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
CNC programming/setup experience required for CNC positions.
Ability to safely lift and handle materials as required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials and tooling.
Ability to lift and move materials within the limits established for the position.
Ability to work around machine tools, metal chips, cutting fluids, noise, and other normal manufacturing conditions.
Required use of PPE, including safety glasses and other protective equipment as applicable.
