Enrichment Program Instructor

Future Hearts, Minds & Dreamers

Westminster, California

Job description

Future Hearts, Minds & Dreamers (FHMD) is looking for experienced artists, educators, and creative professionals interested in teaching enrichment classes on a contract basis.

Our programs introduce students and adult learners to creative experiences that encourage curiosity, skill-building, confidence, collaboration, and self-expression. We work with teaching artists in many areas, including:

Dance Yoga Theatre Drama Improv Photography Film Writing Visual Arts Culinary Arts Languages Martial Arts And more

Programming is primarily offered in person and may serve PreK through 5th grade, middle and high school students, or adults age 50+.

A Flexible Teaching Opportunity

FHMD understands that many teaching artists have careers and commitments outside of the classroom. You may be balancing performances, rehearsals, freelance projects, another job, or other creative work.

Rather than requiring a fixed weekly schedule, we maintain a roster of approved instructors and look for program opportunities that match their experience, location, teaching interests, and availability.

FHMD programs operate in multiple states wherever qualified teaching artists are available. Opportunities are generally connected to the school calendar, including Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions, as well as seasonal Summer camps.

Program Format

While individual assignments vary, our programs commonly include:

Weekly classes over a 6 10 week session
One class meeting each week
45-minute classes for PreK
60-minute classes for most other age groups
School and community-based programming
Opportunities to teach existing FHMD offerings or develop an approved original class

Applicants should let FHMD know which subjects they are qualified to teach and which age groups they are comfortable working with.

Being accepted to the FHMD roster does not mean that a teaching assignment is guaranteed. We will continue pursuing opportunities for approved teaching artists until they ask us to stop.

When an appropriate class becomes available, FHMD will email the instructor with the details. Instructors have 24 hours to accept, decline, or discuss the offer. If an offer is not accepted within that period, FHMD may move on to another qualified instructor.

Compensation

Teaching artist compensation is $40 $60 per class.

Classes are generally minutes in length. The compensation range represents the minimum and maximum rates FHMD reasonably expects to offer for this position throughout the United States.

The rate for an individual assignment may depend on enrollment and how the specific program is funded.

Contract Position

Teaching artists work with FHMD as independent contractors.

This position does not include employer-sponsored health coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off, or other traditional employee benefits. The primary benefit of the contractor model is scheduling flexibility and the ability to accept assignments that fit your availability.

Your Role

Depending on the assignment, teaching artists may be responsible for:

Developing and preparing lessons for their assigned students.
Leading creative, educational, and hands-on activities.
Adjusting instruction for different ages, abilities, and learning needs.
Establishing a classroom atmosphere that is safe, organized, respectful, and encouraging.
Helping students develop creative, social, and practical skills.
Taking attendance and providing requested information about student participation or progress.
Communicating with FHMD staff regarding classes, students, scheduling, and program needs.
Following FHMD policies and the requirements of the partner location.
Required Experience & Qualifications

We are seeking individuals who have:

Experience teaching or providing arts education in their professional discipline.
Experience creating or adapting lessons and curriculum.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
A dependable and professional approach to working with students and partner sites.

The ability to provide class materials, submit a materials list, or use an approved materials fee when required.
At least one year of lead teaching experience.
A BA or BS degree in their respective field.
Interested in Teaching with FHMD?
