Are you an artist, educator, or creative professional who enjoys sharing your skills with others?
Future Hearts, Minds & Dreamers (FHMD) is accepting applications from teaching artists interested in contract-based opportunities with schools and community partners. We are always interested in connecting with qualified instructors in a variety of creative and enrichment areas.
Our programming may include:
Dance Yoga Theatre Drama Improv Film Photography Creative Writing Visual Arts Culinary Arts Languages Martial Arts Other Creative Arts
We serve several age groups, including PreK 5th grade, 6th 12th grade, and adults age 50+. Most opportunities are conducted in person.
Why Work With FHMD?
Our teaching artist model is designed to provide flexibility. Many of the artists in our network have other jobs, creative projects, performances, rehearsals, businesses, or teaching commitments.
Rather than assigning a fixed weekly workload, FHMD works to identify individual classes and programs that fit an instructor's qualifications and stated availability.
We operate in multiple states and pursue opportunities in locations where we have qualified teaching artists available. School-year programs are commonly offered during the Fall, Winter, and Spring, while Summer may bring additional camp and enrichment assignments.
What You May Teach
Teaching artists can work with FHMD in two ways:
Teach an existing FHMD program that matches your experience.
Suggest an original class based on your professional skills and area of expertise.
When joining our roster, instructors provide information about the subjects they are able to teach, the age groups they prefer, and their availability.
FHMD does not promise a particular number of assignments or hours. We actively seek appropriate opportunities for approved instructors and continue doing so unless an instructor asks to be removed from consideration.
Typical Class Schedule
Although each partner program can be different, many FHMD assignments have the following format:
6 10 weeks per session
One class each week
45-minute classes for PreK
60-minute classes for most other students
Primarily in-person instruction
School and community-based locations
Once FHMD has a potential match for you, we will send the details in an official email. You will have 24 hours to accept, decline, or discuss the assignment. If you do not accept within that timeframe, we may contact another qualified instructor.
Compensation
Teaching artists are compensated $40 $60 per class for sessions generally lasting minutes.
The published range reflects the minimum and maximum compensation FHMD reasonably expects to offer for this position throughout the United States. The actual rate for an individual assignment can depend on enrollment and the funding available for that program.
Contractor Status
This is a contract position rather than an employee position.
FHMD does not provide employer-sponsored health insurance, retirement plans, paid vacation, paid sick leave, or other major employee benefits. The position is structured to give teaching artists flexibility in choosing assignments that fit their schedules.
