Overview In this role you will lead cost management for hospitality and large-scale capital projects in Bakersfield, ensuring cost certainty and value. You will partner with project stakeholders to manage estimating, procurement, cost control, reporting and commercial risk. The position blends client-facing collaboration with hands-on analysis to support informed decision-making. Responsibilities- Advise clients on procurement and vendor prequalification; assess bids; chair bid interviews; manage appointment process
- Lead project estimating for construction, fees, direct costs, and related items; review junior estimators; present estimates and value engineering recommendations to clients
- Oversee cost reporting: establish schedule, review forecasts, monitor budget/spend with client, maintain risk register, run regular project meetings
- Manage cost control: review payment applications and change orders with stakeholders, resolve contractual disputes using standard procedures
- Oversee invoicing process and ensure smooth financial flow
- Benchmark performance against similar commissions to drive continuous improvement
- Run final accounting, post-contract audits, and close-out activities
- Hold post-contract reviews to capture lessons learned and feed into training materials
- Develop handover procedures for projects; utilize Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software
- Adhere to SOX controls where applicable
Key requirements- 3-5 years in cost management within construction
- RICS accreditation or in progress is valuable
- Experience on medium to large construction projects; hospitality/conmercial experience preferred
- Knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
- Strong communication skills
