Overview

As Rail & Transit Technical Director, you will steer Parsons' rail and transit teams on key pursuits, aligning technical leadership with multidisciplinary delivery. You will cultivate relationships with transit agencies, operators, and partners while shaping winning strategies and project delivery approaches. You'll oversee complex rail systems projects across regions, focus on integration, safety, and performance, and mentor the next generation of leaders. This role combines strategic direction with hands-on technical oversight to advance critical infrastructure and mobility goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow rail and transit teams on major pursuits, setting strategic direction and technical approaches
  • Develop and maintain relationships with transit agencies, operators, contractors, technology providers, and partners
  • Oversee proposal development, staffing plans, and organizational structures for major pursuits
  • Provide technical leadership for delivery of complex rail systems projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across offices and regions to deliver programs
  • Guide systems engineering, requirements management, configuration management, systems assurance, safety certification, testing and commissioning
  • Foster collaboration among technical disciplines, operations, maintenance, construction, and stakeholders for safe, reliable operation
  • Mentor and develop emerging technical and project leaders and support succession planning
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related technical discipline); Master's preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years in a managerial position
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary rail and transit systems design and delivery on major programs
  • Proven ability to develop winning project proposals and engage clients effectively
