Overview In this role you drive the enterprise-wide engineering technology strategy and lifecycle, guiding deployment, governance, and continuous improvement. You will lead cross-functional adoption of engineering tools, influence vendor relationships, and shape workflows and training. Your expertise will improve project delivery quality and consistency while advancing modernization and digital delivery across disciplines and offices. This is a high-impact, stakeholder-facing position with a strong focus on change leadership and technical mentorship.
Responsibilities- Own select engineering technologies through their lifecycle
- Evaluate hardware, software and cloud solutions for deployment
- Lead technology-related projects and changes across teams
- Provide expert guidance to practitioners and stakeholders
- Develop and maintain workflows, standards, guidance, and training
- Create and update technical documentation and learning materials
- Coordinate contributions from SME colleagues and ensure scalable knowledge assets
- Champion change to knowledge management systems and vendor coordination
- Support incident resolution and user assistance across projects
- Influence vendor roadmaps and service strategies
- Establish vendor relationships and collaborate on product enhancements
- Conduct research and validation to inform technology decisions
- Assess cross-functional impacts and mitigate risks
- Mentor and develop others to advance technical capabilities
Key requirements- 16+ years of experience using engineering technologies for complex transportation projects
- Bachelor's degree in specified fields or 22+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Recognized enterprise authority in engineering technology and digital delivery
- Ability to set technical vision and governance for long-term strategy
- Experience influencing executive decisions and investments
- Proven ability to lead organizational change and modernization
- Strong vendor management and cross-stakeholder collaboration
- Experience with software upgrades, licensing, and digital delivery concepts
