Overview As a Civil Engineer in Clark Dietz's Civil/Environmental Team, you plan, design, and oversee municipal infrastructure projects across roads, water, sewer, and stormwater systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop cost-effective, compliant solutions and support construction phases. The role blends design, analysis, and client coordination within a growth-minded, employee-owned firm. Responsibilities- Perform design computations and analyses for municipal infrastructure (roads, water mains, sewers, stormwater)
- Develop solutions using engineering principles and assess life-cycle costs
- Create drawings/models per design standards using CAD/modeling software
- Prepare reports, plans, specs, cost estimates, and permit applications
- Provide construction phase services and interpret plans for contractors/owners
- Review shop drawings, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and as-built records
- Maintain project documentation, daily site reports, RFIs, and submittals
- Draft correspondence and participate in project meetings; communicate with stakeholders
- Assist in securing work and maintaining client relationships
Key requirements- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- IL or WI PE license required
- 6+ years of municipal infrastructure design/construction experience
- Ability to specify materials/equipment and develop/review cost estimates and bid documents
- Strong task follow-through, problem-solving, collaboration, and delegation to junior staff
- Ability to interpret local building/zoning codes and review plans
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil3D); WaterCAD, SWMM, GIS desired
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic analysis software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, XP-SWMM, Biowin) desired
