Overview In this role you will lead end-to-end controls and BAS/BMS projects, from design to commissioning and closeout. You'll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality to deliver integrated HVAC control solutions. You'll collaborate with engineers and clients to define requirements, oversee installation and testing, and support handover and warranty phases. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role focused on delivering reliable building automation with a strong emphasis on safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress reporting for controls/BAS/BMS installations
- Coordinate scope, technical requirements, and success criteria with clients, engineers, and internal teams
- Oversee installation, programming, integration, testing, and commissioning of BAS/BMS hardware and software
- Manage project teams and subcontractors, assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure safety and quality on site
- Develop and maintain project documentation (specs, drawings, change orders, test reports, commissioning records)
- Identify technical risks, provide troubleshooting and corrective actions for BAS integration
- Ensure compliance with codes and manufacturer guidelines (BACnet, Modbus, local codes)
- Prepare cost estimates, manage budgets and invoices, process change orders
- Lead client handover, training, sustained services planning, and post-commissioning support
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and proposals for new work
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in HVAC controls, BAS/BMS, or building automation; prior construction site experience
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS architectures, controllers, field devices, protocols (BACnet, Modbus) and common platforms
- Proven experience with system programming, integration, testing, and commissioning of BMS/BAS
- Strong project management skills with schedule and budget control; PMP/CCM or equivalent is a plus
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficient with construction drawings (electrical/mechanical), AutoCAD or similar, and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera)
- Ability to travel to job sites, supervise on-site activities, and work flexible hours; valid driver's license
