Overview In this Project Accountant role, you will manage the financial performance of projects from setup to closeout in Boston. You will work with project managers and accounting teams to support accurate billing, cost control, and contractual compliance. The position emphasizes precise analysis, high accuracy, and juggling multiple deadlines in a project-focused environment. You will drive project financial health by tracking budgets, invoicing, and variances, with a clear impact on overall project success and audit readiness.
Responsibilities- Set up new project and contract records in the accounting system, ensuring alignment with scope and billing terms
- Review budgets, client agreements, and invoicing provisions to support accurate financial management
- Monitor labor, expenses, costs, and margin performance to keep projects financially on track
- Lead recurring team check-ins to align on priorities, timelines, and deliverables
- Generate and issue client invoices per contract terms and billing schedules
- Track receivables, identify overdue balances, and coordinate follow-up with project leaders and clients
- Process contract updates, change orders, and amendments while keeping financial records accurate
- Maintain an up-to-date project schedule with critical dates and reporting deadlines
- Reconcile project charges, investigate discrepancies, and resolve budget variances
- Support audits, accounts payable activities, and related tasks while maintaining project documentation
