Overview In this role you will oversee recurring accounting processes for CarMax Auto Finance and serve as a key accounting resource across multiple departments. You will drive accuracy and timeliness of general ledger close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting, including SEC footnote support. You will lead external audits and SOX 404 testing, while shaping improvements through data-driven insights. This position offers leadership of a salaried team and opportunities to lead system and standard-setting initiatives within a growing finance organization.

Responsibilities- Oversee cyclical accounting processes: GL close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and footnote support for SEC filings and earnings releases
- Review work from the CAF Financial Accounting Team: entries, reconciliations, and quarterly analyses
- Lead external audit processes: prepare client-prepared schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audits, SOX 404 testing, maintain financial reporting documentation
- Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to relevant business areas
- Participate in or lead special projects: accounting standards or systems implementations/maintenance
- Select, manage, and engage a team of salaried associates performing accounting, reconciliation, and reporting functions
Key requirements- CPA required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Five years of general accounting experience in public or corporate accounting or financial reporting
- Exposure to SEC reporting requirements; experience with financial statements preferred
- Three+ years of experience leading teams with direct reports
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and payment processing
