Overview

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer/Project Manager at S&ME, you lead geotechnical projects from planning to completion, applying engineering judgment to site and subsurface conditions. You collaborate with field teams, laboratories, and clients to analyze data and deliver actionable reports for building and infrastructure projects. The role blends technical analysis, project coordination, and client interaction, with growth opportunities alongside experienced professionals. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate subsurface explorations, field observations, and lab testing to meet scope and schedule
  • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to develop geotechnical recommendations for foundations, earthwork, pavements, and site development
  • Manage project financial performance including budgeting, invoicing, profitability, and AR
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, calculations, and design recommendations with clear communication of risks and assumptions
  • Collaborate with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, and clients to address questions and changing conditions
  • Mentor junior staff and promote safety, quality, and professional development culture
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • 2+ years of project management responsibilities
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
