Overview As Director of Software Engineer in Test, you will lead a team focused on elevating test quality and delivery velocity for Fidelity Wealth products. You'll shape test strategy across web, mobile, and data platforms, integrating AI-driven approaches to reduce manual test authoring and expand coverage. You'll manage a sizeable team with global collaboration, drive DevOps and observability practices, and champion AI-assisted engineering standards. This role is a chance to influence quality across customer-facing experiences and scale reliable software delivery.
Responsibilities- Define and drive program-level test strategy across integrated systems
- Lead test automation and data quality frameworks for frontend, mobile, and backend
- Champion AI-assisted test authoring and Copilot-first practices with governance
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines and end-to-end testing (unit, component, functional, performance, security)
- Mentor and develop a team of 10-18 engineers and dotted-line colleagues in India
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to improve customer experience and delivery velocity
- Evaluate GenAI capabilities and roll out GitHub Copilot adoption across the chapter
- Establish metrics to demonstrate impact of AI tooling on velocity, coverage, and quality
- Ensure maintainability, security, and accuracy of test artifacts and code
- Partner with security, reliability, and observability teams to improve resiliency
Key requirements- Deep software engineering and software testing experience
- Experience implementing test solutions for API, mobile, and customer-facing applications
- Program-level test strategy development across integrated systems
- Data quality framework design and maintenance
- End-to-end DevOps automation with CI/CD and various test types
- Experience with mock frameworks and service virtualization
- Knowledge of resiliency engineering and observability patterns
- Certifications or hands-on experience with AWS/Azure
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and AI-assisted test authoring
- Leadership experience: coaching, mentoring, hiring, and developing engineers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with stakeholder management ability
- Ability to manage a large team and dotted-line teams across geographies
