Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead the design and development of mechanical systems for gas skid and station solutions, enabling safe, reliable fuel-gas supply for mission-critical data-center infrastructure. You will guide cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive standardization and design reuse to improve efficiency. You help translate customer needs into integrated mechanical and controls solutions, balancing safety, quality, and schedule. This is a hands-on leadership role at Honeywell Technologies focused on delivering high-impact, engineered-to-order systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design process from concept to production
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define mechanical requirements and specs
  • Design and develop complex mechanical systems and assemblies
  • Perform mechanical analysis and simulations for performance and reliability
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Drive standardization, modularization, and continuous improvement
  • Lead multidisciplinary electrical projects through budgets, timelines, and resources
  • Translate customer specs and site constraints into integrated controls solutions
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations
  • Coordinate hazardous-area, safety, and environmental requirements with authorities
  • Lead design reviews and risk assessments with customers and project teams
  • Review supplier submittals for alignment with specs, schedule, and cost targets
  • Manage technical scope, schedule, risks, changes, and documentation
  • Support project interfacing, procurement, fabrication, testing, and commissioning
  • Communicate and uphold design quality and constructability principles
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • 6+ years of mechanical design and development experience
  • 6+ years supporting complex multidisciplinary capital projects with scope, cost, schedule, risk accountability
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools
  • Experience with mechanical analysis and simulation tools
  • Experience designing systems for packaged equipment, process skids, metering or regulation stations, energy infrastructure, or engineered-to-order solutions
  • Knowledge of safety practices, hazardous or classified-location design, and applicable codes and standards
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects across design, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Strong technical writing, problem-solving, stakeholder-management, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel to supplier, customer, fabrication, and project sites
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management
