Attorney Talent Operations Manager - Compensation

Overview

In this role you support the global non-partner attorney population by managing base pay, bonuses, and related analytics. You'll work with recruiting, practice groups, and finance to shape compensation decisions and communicate outcomes to partners and attorneys. This is a data-driven, cross-functional role focused on transparency, process improvement, and benchmarking in a leading law firm. You'll contribute to the life-cycle management of attorneys and help scale our compensation programs across markets.

Responsibilities
  • Manage annual base compensation and bonus processes for all non-partner attorneys, including recommending figures based on established criteria
  • Collaborate with recruiting managers and practice groups on compensation aspects of hiring and promotion
  • Oversee production and analysis of aggregate and individual attorney data and related financial metrics
  • Serve as primary point of contact for attorneys on compensation, hours, and related metrics
  • Develop, document, and continually improve best practices and templates for compensation management
  • Maintain annual documents, charts, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • Lead the implementation of compensation process changes, including communication plans and leadership presentations
  • Monitor industry developments and trends in attorney compensation across markets
  • Collaborate with finance to model different compensation scenarios
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years in a large law firm or professional services, with increasing responsibility (HR or legal talent preferred)
  • 3+ years in a compensation function
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and data modeling capabilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with strategic perspective
  • Ability to command respect of attorneys with quiet confidence
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Workday experience is a plus
