Overview As a hands-on instructional design leader, you partner with stakeholders to analyze needs and craft measurable learning experiences aligned with business goals. You will apply ADDIE and adult learning principles to deliver multi-modal training that drives performance and client service. You'll work within Schwab's Learning Solutions to elevate the organization's culture of learning and ensure high-impact, responsible learning outcomes. You will also guide strategy and mentor teammates while leveraging AI to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Design and develop learning experiences using ADDIE grounded in adult learning principles and tied to business outcomes
- Conduct needs analyses to define goals, scope, methods, and success measures
- Create training plans addressing the who/what/when/where/why/how to drive business results
- Develop content outlines, storyboards, prototypes, and other design artifacts
- Produce learning materials for eLearning, video, virtual, and in-person formats
- Write clear, concise training content following Schwab writing standards
- Define scope, timelines, and work plans to meet milestones and delivery deadlines
- Manage review and feedback for quality and alignment
- Apply WCAG and established processes and policies
- Build partnerships with stakeholders, colleagues, and SMEs
- Lead productive project meetings with clear goals and active listening
- Communicate risks and needs when scope shifts occur
- Use visual and instructional design to create effective graphics
- Apply AI thoughtfully to improve design efficiency and outcomes
- Contribute to team strategy and evolution of Learning Solutions as a learning organization
- Share expertise and elevate design practices through consultation and mentorship
- Evaluate learning effectiveness via data and feedback to improve outcomes
Key requirements- 6+ years of experience creating self-paced, blended, and instructor-led learning solutions
- Portfolio showing senior-level work on complex learning solutions with measurable outcomes
- Formal education, certification, or equivalent training in instructional design or related field
- Experience using generative AI to create learning solutions and evaluate outputs for quality and accessibility
- Strong writing and editorial skills focusing on clarity
- Ability to manage multiple high-complexity projects concurrently
- Advanced skills in graphic design, video, audio, and multimedia content creation
