Overview As an experienced Project Manager / Estimator, you will lead estimating, planning, and execution for commercial and industrial HVAC projects. You will balance technical estimating, cost control, and field management to deliver safe, on-time, and profitable outcomes while nurturing client and subcontractor relationships. You'll work with cross-functional teams to refine scopes, manage changes, and drive project performance. Responsibilities- Prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for HVAC and mechanical projects (labor, material, equipment, subcontractor pricing)
- Develop bids/proposals, review contracts, and identify scope, exclusions, and risks
- Create/maintain project schedules, manage budgets, monitor progress for on-time/on-budget delivery
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams during preconstruction and construction
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and constructability reviews to validate estimates
- Manage change orders, RFIs, and revisions; negotiate scope/pricing with clients/subcontractors
- Oversee quality control and safety compliance per standards
- Prepare regular project reports (cost forecasts, cash flow, progress)
- Mentor junior estimators and project staff to improve accuracy and delivery
Key requirements- 5+ years in mechanical construction, HVAC estimating, and project management
- Proven expertise in mechanical systems and construction processes (required)
- Experience preparing estimates and managing commercial HVAC (wetside) or mechanical projects
- Proficiency with estimating software (Trimble/WinEst/Stack/ProEst) and MS Office
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and construction documentation
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills for client/engineer/trades coordination
- Ability to read/interpret mechanical drawings and specs
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel; OSHA 10/30 or equivalent preferred
