Overview In this role you will develop and maintain commercial relationships with global reinsurers to secure capacity and favorable terms for Caribbean property risks. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to structure facultative placements and craft program strategies, engaging markets in Miami and beyond to optimize risk transfer. You'll analyze catastrophe risk with actuaries and modelers to advise on structures that improve capital efficiency, while ensuring timely documentation and regulatory compliance. This is a client facing, global broker role that offers impact through strategic placement and market leadership.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with international reinsurers across Caribbean markets
- Structure and review facultative property reinsurance placements with coverage terms and limits
- Negotiate with reinsurers and finalize signs and premiums
- Coordinate with analytics, contracts, and client services to deliver solutions
- Engage markets in Miami, Latin America, Europe and other hubs to place placements
- Prepare risk analyses, placement strategies, and market updates for senior executives
- Ensure accurate and timely internal and external documentation
- Manage a portfolio of placements and forecast quarterly revenue
- Collaborate with actuaries and cat modelers to advise on risk mitigation and capital efficiency
- Ensure compliance with regulatory policies and procedures
- Travel as required for client meetings and market engagement
- Contribute to the development of the global Property Segment production strategy
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field
- 3 years of experience in reinsurance with a focus on property broking
- Experience with insurance clients in Spanish-speaking, English-speaking, and Dutch Caribbean
- 3 years in developing commercial relationships with international reinsurance markets
- 1 year in communicating technical reinsurance concepts to senior executives and structuring facultative programs
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams (broking, analytics, catastrophe modeling, client service)
- Professional designation such as ARe or CPCU preferred
