Overview In this role you drive accounting excellence for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic initiatives within Microsoft's Corporate Accounting. You will lead cross-functional efforts with finance, legal, corporate development, and business teams to deliver accurate reporting and strong controls. You'll apply sound accounting judgment to complex transactions and advance policies, governance, and SOX compliance. Responsibilities- Lead accounting activities for acquisitions and divestitures, including assessment, integration support, and post-close execution
- Oversee SOX compliance design, testing, and continuous improvement for acquisitions/divestitures accounting
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, Controllership, and business teams to balance compliance with business objectives
- Apply technical accounting judgment to evaluate complex transactions and align on conclusions
- Establish processes, documentation standards, and controls to promote consistency and transparency
- Contribute to accounting policy development and alignment with US GAAP and corporate standards
- Lead and support high-impact accounting and financial reporting initiatives, including impairment assessments and integrations
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate accounting processes for scalability
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders to navigate accounting, reporting, and operational challenges
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Key requirements- Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting and internal controls
- Track record of leading cross-functional projects that balance compliance with efficiency and business impact
- Analytical, communication, and project management skills
