Overview In this role you will execute Large Seeded Vegetable production plans to secure a reliable, high-quality seed supply. You will collaborate with Supply Chain, R&D, growers and vendors to align production with demand and quality requirements. You will lead pre-season planning, agronomic programs, vendor management, and data-driven improvements while upholding safety and quality standards. You'll stay current with production technology and support cross-functional teams to optimize yields and costs. Responsibilities- Execute LSV seed production plans to ensure timely supply of high-quality seed
- Act as technical liaison with Supply Chain, R&D, growers and vendors
- Contract production volumes with growers and vendors to maximize yield, minimize costs, meet quality specs
- Develop and maintain grower/vendor evaluation system to drive yields and quality
- Understand species/variety characteristics, seed quality standards, and crop delivery requirements
- Manage pre-season planning: recruit growers, field selection and qualification, hybrid placement, field maps, SAP data entry, field recipes
- Develop and implement agronomic programs for weeds, diseases, and insects; conduct timely field inspections
- Provide pesticide and agronomic recommendations to optimize yield, quality and COGP
- Handle administrative duties: signing vendor contracts, data collection/preparation for reports, QMS meetings
- Foster safety culture and lead in the Goal Zero campaign
- Collaborate with R&D and GSPS to test/implement new production concepts
- Remain current with production technology and develop specialized skills (systems, data analysis, equipment maintenance, fertility, irrigation mgmt.)
- Cross-functional knowledge of conditioning, treating, packaging, warehouse and distribution
- Coordinate with internal Quality Labs to ensure high-quality seed delivery
- Supervise employees and third-party personnel as required
Key requirements- Bachelor in Agronomy or related field; equivalent experience considered
- Knowledge of seed production procedures, practices and terminology
- Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills
- PC and business software skills
- Strong agronomic and pest management skills
- Ability to walk fields in any weather and work 7 days a week during peak times
- Extensive travel during peak periods
- Valid driver's license
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred
