Overview In this role you advance cybersecurity research to secure software, embedded systems, and computing infrastructure for mission-critical contexts. You will shape R&D directions, lead challenging projects from concept to transition, and explore AI-enabled cybersecurity. You will publish findings and collaborate across government, industry, and academia, while mentoring researchers and developing new programs. This position offers meaningful impact in national security with opportunities to influence research strategy and sponsor relationships.

Responsibilities- Advance state-of-the-art cybersecurity through new approaches for securing software, embedded systems, communications, and computing infrastructure
- Shape research directions and lead technically challenging R&D from concept to transition
- Explore AI-cybersecurity intersections, including AI applications to analysis and defense
- Publish and present research and collaborate with external researchers across Lincoln Laboratory, government, industry, and academia
- Mentor researchers and engineers, identify important problems, and contribute to new research programs and sponsor relationships
Key requirements- PhD in a related computing or engineering field or Master's with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated depth in at least one: embedded systems security; software security and program analysis; secure-by-design architectures; applied cryptography; software testing and evaluation; formal methods and programming languages security; AI-enabled cybersecurity tools
- Record of research or technical innovation (publications, patents, projects, prototypes)
- Technical initiative and potential to lead research, formulate approaches, and influence collaboration
