Overview In this role you will provide on-site safety leadership for a large-scale heavy civil and site development project in Buffalo, NY. You'll work with field teams and project superintendents to ensure work is planned and performed safely, driving hazard recognition and incident prevention. You'll maintain safety documentation, conduct inspections, and coach crews to uphold high safety standards. Responsibilities- Provide daily safety oversight across heavy civil and site construction activities
- Review pre-task plans and verify crew understanding of hazards and controls
- Monitor and review project EHS documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Conduct field inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions
- Coach and mentor workers and subcontractors on safe practices and hazard recognition
- Collaborate with project superintendents to align safety expectations across activities
- Evaluate upcoming work to establish appropriate safety controls beforehand
- Communicate safety concerns clearly and address issues with field leadership
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
- Maintain a visible field presence and promote accountability on site
Key requirements- Demonstrated construction safety experience on heavy civil or complex projects
- Ability to independently manage day-to-day jobsite safety
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and hazard controls
- Experience reviewing pre-task plans and maintaining safety documentation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach and collaborate with leadership
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing field conditions
