Senior Litigation Attorney

Overview

In this role you lead complex civil litigation with a focus on personal injury defense from intake to resolution. You will work within a team-driven firm to shape strategy, manage discovery, and guide trial work while mentoring junior staff. The position emphasizes client service, ethical practice, and firm growth through effective representation and business development. You will collaborate with claims professionals, experts, and external counsel to build persuasive positions. This is a high-impact position at a Texas litigation firm seeking experienced, results-oriented leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a high-volume civil litigation docket including personal injury and insurance defense from start to finish
  • Develop litigation strategy and oversee pleadings, discovery plans, motions, and trial prep
  • Lead all phases of trial work: jury selection, openings/closings, witness examination, and post-trial briefs
  • Conduct and defend depositions, manage expert discovery, and supervise e-discovery workflow disputes
  • Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions and pretrial materials; assist with appellate briefs when required
  • Provide clear, practical case status updates, risk assessments, and settlement options to clients
  • Mentor, supervise, and train associates and support staff; ensure quality and firm standards
  • Coordinate with claims pros, experts, and external counsel to build strong factual and legal positions
  • Support client development and retention through service, pitches, and BD initiatives
  • Ensure timely billing, budget management, and adherence to ethical and regulatory requirements
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active Texas bar admission
  • 6+ years of civil litigation experience with substantial trial exposure
  • Experience in personal injury and insurance defense preferred
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage cases independently and lead litigation teams
  • Strong client-management and case-communication skills
  • Familiarity with litigation technology and e-discovery tools
