Overview As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will maintain accurate and current receivables through payment application, reconciliations, and follow-up with clients. You will work within the finance team to strengthen processes and ensure reliable financial records. The role involves resolving unapplied and aging payments, and supporting legacy issue resolution and system-related initiatives. This position emphasizes independent work, accuracy, and ongoing process improvements to support cash flow and reporting.
Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day AR operations (posting payments, updating customer accounts, supporting account clean-up)
- Reconcile receivable balances, trust records, bank transactions, and internal data to fix inconsistencies
- Investigate unapplied/misapplied/aging payments and allocate properly, including older items
- Review daily banking activity to ensure cash receipts are recorded accurately and promptly
- Apply incoming payments following established priorities, including FIFO when applicable
- Communicate with clients regarding past-due invoices and open balance resolution
- Create/manage a structured follow-up process for accounts at 30+ days outstanding
- Maintain real-time tracking of receivables activity to keep status accurate
- Support historical research and reconciliation projects to close open questions
- Contribute to process improvements by documenting procedures and assisting with data/system initiatives
