About United Contractor Services
United Contractor Services is one of the largest and fastest-growing specialty subcontractors in North America and is ranked among the Top 50 Walls and Ceilings contractors in the U.S. We self-perform drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, painting, and Division 8 and 10 specialties for repeat general contractor customers on commercial projects nationwide. We're looking for people with the principles that got us here: self-motivated, passionate, and hardworking.
The Role
As a Bilingual Construction Safety Manager, you'll be dedicated to one active UCS project at a time, owning the jobsite safety program for our self-perform interiors crews from mobilization through closeout. When a project wraps, you'll move to the next one, so this role involves travel to commercial construction sites across the U.S., with company-paid lodging and per diem. You'll train and coach crews in both English and Spanish, work alongside our superintendents and foremen every day, and serve as our main safety contact with the general contractor's safety team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Implement and enforce the UCS safety program and the project's site-specific safety plan on a daily basis
- Develop and review JHAs/AHAs and daily pre-task plans with foremen and crews
- Lead jobsite safety orientations, weekly toolbox talks, and hands-on training for employees and subcontractors, in English and Spanish
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections and audits, correct hazards on the spot, and track corrective actions to completion
- Manage the trade-specific hazards of interiors work, including silica exposure control under OSHA Table 1, fall protection, scaffolds and rolling platforms, aerial lifts, stilts, powder-actuated tools, and material handling and stocking
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and near-miss reporting, and keep OSHA recordkeeping and documentation accurate and current
- Coordinate with the GC's safety team, attend project safety meetings, and support GC and OSHA inspections
- Serve as competent person for applicable scopes and verify that equipment operators hold current training and certifications
- Organize safety workshops and help build a jobsite culture where crews look out for each other
Necessary Qualifications
- 4+ years of construction safety experience, with commercial construction strongly preferred
- OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish (required), with the ability to train and communicate in both languages on the jobsite
- Willingness to travel and relocate temporarily to project sites nationwide
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards, including silica, fall protection, and scaffolding
- Experience with interiors, drywall, or framing trades preferred
- CHST, STS, or first aid/CPR trainer credentials are a plus
Physical Requirements
- On your feet approximately 80% of the time
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
What We Can Offer You
We empower our associates to grow professionally while providing a competitive benefits and compensation package.
- Generous bonuses based on project performance
