Job Title: Physician (Psychiatry)Location: Fort Carson, CO 80913Duration: On-going ContractSchedule: Standard ShiftJob Duties:• Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
• Clinically direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
• Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
• Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counselling.
• Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
• Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
• Coordinates with facility and community resources to provide multi- disciplinary comprehensive care to all patients, taking into account factors such as new and/or emerging procedures and techniques and the patient's personal history, as well as information gained through diagnostic tests.
• Performs emergency services or crisis intervention, including life-saving emergency procedures when necessary. Required to move, manipulate, lift patients with the assistance of other medical staff.
• Promotes preventative and health maintenance care, stresses positive health behaviours and self-care through education and counselling. Encourages patients to make difficult lifestyle changes to improve their health and provides follow-up treatment and care to patients to ascertain compliance with therapy and response to treatment.
• Provides advice by telephone and/ or in person to other physicians, non-physician providers, and other professional medical staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical problems.
• Serves as member of the professional medical staff and/ or faculty to provide advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and/ or boards that relate to duties under this task order.
• Evaluates the care provided to patients at MTF, identifies opportunities to change the care delivered, advises on difficult or complex cases, and recommends corrective action when problems exist.
• Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs. Make recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features.
Minimum Qualifications:• Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
• Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
• Certification: The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
• Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
• Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the credentialing instructions.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine
