On Grid Infrastructure Services is seeking a Senior Project Scheduler in Houston, TX. The Senior Project Scheduler is responsible for the planning, development, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of project schedules supporting complex industrial and EPC projects.
This position requires an experienced planning and scheduling professional who can do more than update an existing schedule. The Senior Project Scheduler must understand project scope and execution strategy, develop detailed plans and schedules from the ground up, identify sequencing and resource requirements, evaluate schedule performance, and recommend corrective actions when projects deviate from plan.
The role will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client teams and must be comfortable participating in project meetings and communicating schedule status directly with clients.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 for engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and other project activities.
Perform both project planning and scheduling, including developing work breakdown structures, activity sequencing, durations, logic, milestones, resource requirements, and execution plans.
Develop master and discipline-level schedules that align project scope, contractual milestones, client requirements, and execution strategy.
Work with project teams to determine the appropriate sequence and timing of engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
Establish and maintain schedule logic, critical paths, constraints, calendars, coding structures, and project baselines.
Perform routine schedule updates while ensuring progress accurately reflects actual project conditions.
Analyze schedule performance, critical and near-critical paths, float, trends, delays, and potential impacts to project milestones.
Identify schedule risks and conflicts early and work with project leadership to develop mitigation and recovery plans.
Evaluate changes in scope, sequencing, productivity, resource availability, and field conditions for potential schedule impacts.
Support forecasting of labor, materials, equipment, and other project resource requirements.
Develop schedule reports, progress curves, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, and other project controls deliverables.
Participate in internal and client-facing progress, planning, and schedule review meetings.
Present schedule status, critical-path issues, project risks, and recovery strategies clearly to clients and project leadership.
Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to validate schedule information.
Maintain effective communication with client representatives and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact regarding project schedule status.
Support project controls and management with schedule-related forecasting, reporting, and decision-making.
Travel occasionally to project and client locations as required.
Requirements
10+ years of progressive planning and scheduling experience supporting industrial, construction, or EPC projects.
Demonstrated experience in both project planning and scheduling; candidates must have experience developing project plans and schedules and not solely performing schedule updates.
Project experience in Oil & Gas, Onshore Power Generation, and/or Data Centers.
Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, including schedule development, logic, baselining, updating, analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
Strong understanding of EPC project execution and the relationships between engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles, critical-path analysis, schedule logic, float, constraints, and schedule recovery.
Ability to analyze schedule performance and communicate potential risks, delays, and corrective actions to project leadership.
Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently participate in and lead schedule discussions with clients.
Ability to work effectively with project managers, construction management, engineering, procurement, commissioning, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other project controls/reporting applications.
Must be based in the Houston, Texas area and willing to travel occasionally as project needs require.
