Overview In this role you lead the company's global compliance, ethics and data privacy programs to manage risk and enable responsible growth. You partner with senior leadership to translate multi-jurisdictional requirements into practical controls and governance. You will own critical areas including anti-bribery, AI governance, whistleblowing, privacy operations, and regulatory change, guiding cross-functional teams to protect data, integrity and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to shape a robust, scalable compliance program in a global clinical research context. Responsibilities- Set priorities and governance for compliance, ethics and data privacy programs and advise on material risks
- Develop and maintain anti-bribery/corruption policies and training, and coordinate due diligence and remediation
- Lead enterprise AI governance framework with multiple functions and assess privacy, security, ethical and regulatory impacts
- Oversee Ethics hotline/Whistleblowing Policy including intake, investigations and trend reporting
- Own and operate global Data Privacy program including notices, DPIAs, data subject requests, and international transfers
- Lead privacy workstream for suspected data incidents including containment and remediation
- Manage DPO service scope, independence and information flow with the DPO
- Oversee Privacy Aviator configuration, data quality and adoption
- Coordinate NSA Security Officer obligations, governance and training
- Lead responses to audits and client/regulatory requests, ensure evidence and corrective actions
- Own proposal/privacy content for RFI/RFPs and due diligence, advise on privacy and security terms
- Monitor regulatory developments in clinical research, ABAC, whistleblowing, data protection and AI
- Own SOPs, policies and training; ensure approval, document control and effectiveness
- Manage Legal budget, outside counsel, DPO and providers; control costs and ensure timely delivery
- Provide cross-functional legal/regulatory research and issue resolution
Key requirements- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree; admission as lawyer in at least one jurisdiction (where applicable)
- Professional certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CCEP, AIGP)
- 10+ years in compliance/privacy/ethics/information governance with leadership experience
- Experience designing global programs/policies for compliance and privacy, including ABAC, whistleblowing, investigations and audits
- Experience with AI governance, privacy tech, data incidents and cross-functional risk management; CRO/biopharma/clinical research experience preferred
- Strong legal, compliance and business judgment
- Excellent communication for policy drafting, executive advisory, training
- Program management with attention to detail and multitask prioritization
- Global privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA)
- Anti-bribery frameworks (FCPA, UK Bribery Act)
