Overview In this role you will represent individuals and families in civil elder abuse matters in Sacramento, guiding cases from initial investigation through resolution. You will collaborate with clients, medical providers, and experts to pursue meaningful outcomes that protect vulnerable populations. You will manage all stages of litigation-from evaluation to discovery, pleadings, motions, and trial preparation-while balancing strong advocacy with practical negotiation. You will maintain clear, empathetic communication with clients and coordinate with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to support justice and accountability. Responsibilities- Represent clients and families in civil matters involving elder abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, wrongful death, and related claims
- Direct cases through all stages of litigation: early evaluation, factual investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement planning, trial preparation
- Build well-supported claims by gathering records, analyzing evidence, coordinating with medical providers, and working with consultants and expert witnesses
- Prepare, serve, and respond to discovery; take and defend depositions; pursue court intervention to resolve disputes
- Develop case strategies balancing trial readiness with effective negotiation to maximize resolutions
- Maintain consistent, thoughtful communication with clients, explaining legal developments and documenting damages
- Advocate for vulnerable individuals with professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to justice
- Collaborate with fellow attorneys and external stakeholders, including public agencies and healthcare professionals, to strengthen outcomes
