Overview

In this Lead Pipeline Engineer role, you will deliver pipeline solutions for mining, oil & gas, and water projects as part of a global engineering team. You will drive pipeline design across lifecycles-from planning and FEED to detailed design, procurement, and construction support-while assuring safety and quality. You'll interact with clients, coordinate multidisciplinary work, and lead technical analyses and permit support to advance projects. This position combines hands-on design with field coordination, regulatory compliance, and business development in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design pipeline systems across lifecycle (planning, FEED, route selection, permitting, detail design, procurement, construction, deactivation)
  • Provide routing, stress analysis, and mechanical design support for liquid, gas, and/or slurry pipelines (including DOT-regulated systems)
  • Coordinate field investigations, surveys, environmental and geotechnical studies, and right-of-way support
  • Prepare funding documents (cost estimates, bid summaries, authorization requests) and assist in client facing communications
  • Support permit applications and project proposals, reports, and design drawings
  • Manage project delivery per company procedures and QMS, maintaining client relationships and responsive communication
  • Support field construction and commissioning activities and troubleshoot with project team
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams and external contractors to meet project needs
  • Travel up to 25% as project demands
Key requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Commitment to health and safety within the work culture
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • 7-10 years pipeline design experience (consulting or operating company)
  • EIT required; PE preferred
  • Knowledge of liquids and gas design codes (49 CFR Parts 192/195, ASME B31.4/B31.8, AWWA M11)
  • Experience with pipeline software: Pipeline Toolbox, AutoPIPE/CAESAR II, PipeFLO, AFT Impulse
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized with good time management
