Overview As a Mechanical Engineer in HII's Uncrewed Systems, you contribute to the design and integration of autonomous, underwater and surface vehicles. You work within a cross-functional team to move concepts from R&D to manufacturing, shaping energy, propulsion, sensor, and control subsystems. You will build and test prototypes, support manufacturing transitions, and help improve existing designs. This role offers impact in defense and commercial unmanned platforms, with growth opportunities across experience levels.

Responsibilities- Support mechanical design for new development and manufacturing efforts
- Select materials for underwater applications and perform structural analysis, electronic packing, and CAD modeling (SolidWorks)
- Research, plan, and design mechanical/electromechanical products for underwater use
- Coordinate fabrication, operation, installation, and repair activities for mechanical systems
- Contribute to Configuration Management and ensure smooth transfer from engineering to manufacturing
- Build prototypes and test fixtures for new or updated designs
- Communicate design intent and provide support to other departments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor in a related field required for Level 1; varying experience with advanced degrees for higher levels
