Overview In this role you will lead health and welfare benefits engagement for clients, shaping strategy, plan design, and financial performance. You will manage client relationships, drive vendor selection and negotiations, and guide complex rate-setting analyses within the Employer Health team. The role combines project leadership, technical underwriting insight, and mentorship to junior staff, advancing Deloitte's health benefits offerings for employers and public-sector sponsors. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver decision-ready insights and compliant, market-connected solutions.
Responsibilities- Lead client relationships and deliver decision-ready reports and presentations
- Develop health and welfare benefits strategies and plan designs using market benchmarks and regulatory requirements
- Analyze self-insured financial projections, claims, and utilization data to support rate-setting and contributions
- Lead RFPs, vendor selection, renewal, negotiation, and implementation for medical, dental, pharmacy, life, and disability programs
- Manage project delivery, mentor junior professionals, and support broader health and welfare consulting initiatives
Key requirements- 12+ years of consulting or brokerage experience focused on United States health and welfare benefits
- 5+ years of underwriting experience supporting financial analysis for health and welfare benefit plans
- 5+ years' experience managing multiple client projects simultaneously
- Ability to travel 0-30% (varies by client)
- Bachelor's degree
