Overview In Forest Park, GA, you will lead the Substation Physical Design group to deliver high-quality substation design, package development, and stakeholder coordination. You will interface with opco clients, internal teams, and partners, shaping design standards and criteria. The role combines leadership, resource planning, and technical oversight to support construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration. Responsibilities- Prioritize safety and model safe behaviors in all activities
- Lead the Physical Design group to ensure productivity, design quality, and resource efficiency
- Serve as primary interface for opco clients, internal teams, and partners
- Select, develop, and assign resources; manage design durations and schedules
- Support or lead Substation Engineering and Power Delivery initiatives
- Develop and uphold design standards and criteria for the Southern Company System
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team for daily activities
- Foster a strong team environment with operating company partners
Key requirements- BS degree in engineering preferred or other degree with applicable experience
- Professional Engineer license preferred
- Experience with design, maintenance, or operation of substations in the power utility environment
- Proven leadership andPeople-management capabilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and presentation skills
- Ability to coach and develop technical personnel
- Experience with substation design methods, standards, and criteria
- Ability to make decisions in routine and emergency situations
- Familiarity with TEAMS, STOMP, AutoCAD, SCST Vault, and other design tools
