Overview In this role you will oversee daily operations and staffing for the Elementary Department, ensuring safe, collaborative learning in a bilingual environment. You will lead faculty orientation, evaluation, and professional development, while coordinating student placements and overseeing assessment processes. The position drives the master schedule, supports language and literacy planning, and upholds IEP implementation and data collection. You will work closely with the CEPO and school programs to foster well-being and discipline, and ensure compliance with safety and testing procedures. Responsibilities- manage daily department operations, scheduling, and coverage
- participate in hiring, orientation, observation, and evaluation of faculty
- lead department meetings and coordinate professional development
- coordinate student placements and oversee lesson plans and standardized testing
- enforce IEP implementation and collect data
- develop and manage the master schedule and school functions
- support bilingual education philosophy and language-literacy planning
- monitor classroom management, discipline, attendance, and well-being
- ensure safety protocols and progress reporting, collaborate with CEPO and other programs
- perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Three years of successful classroom teaching with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Fluency in American Sign Language and written English
- Superior interpersonal and active listening skills
- Maryland MSDE Administrator II certification or Supervisors of Instruction/Assistant Principal/Principal licensure or eligibility
- Criminal background check and three letters of recommendation
