Overview In this role you support Sponsor Finance & Direct Lending by evaluating credit exposures and underwriting Direct Loans for private equity-backed borrowers. You work across origination, syndications, monitoring, and portfolio relations, ensuring risk factors are assessed and credit outcomes align with policy. You will perform due diligence, build credit analyses, and assist in structuring terms, contributing to MUFG's risk management and profit goals. This is a collaborative, client-facing position with opportunities to influence financing strategies and credit outcomes.

Responsibilities- Support credit analysis and management of Sponsor/Direct Lending business
- Conduct due diligence on new transactions and regular portfolio evaluations
- Assist in evaluating, structuring and negotiating credit terms and agreements
- Prepare detailed credit analyses and regulatory-compliant credit applications
- Develop financial models for credit applications and quarterly reviews
- Contribute to idea generation and pitch materials for Sponsor clients
- Support syndication strategy and liaison with lenders
- Coordinate and communicate account information across organizational constituencies
- Understand industry conditions within assigned portfolio
- Oversee facility closing procedures and related documentation
- Work with deal teams to develop financing structures (leveraged capital markets)
- Support credit analysis for structured credit transactions (derivatives, margin lending, securitizations)
- Maintain knowledge of portfolio industries and regulatory issues
- Participate in client and bank meetings as required
- Ensure alignment of risk strategy and policy with the credit approval division
- Evaluate and assign transaction and group exposure ratings
- Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years in financial institutions or equivalent credit risk role
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Knowledge of accounting and corporate finance
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Able to work independently and under pressure
- CFA candidacy is a plus
