Overview In this role you will join Deloitte's Washington National Tax Financial Instruments Group to address complex federal income tax issues for multinational clients. You will advise on debt, derivatives and digital assets within a fast-paced, high-caliber team. You help determine instrument classification, tax treatment and related risk implications across a variety of settings including M&A and investment management. This is a chance to shape solutions for sophisticated organizations and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver rigorous tax insights. You will lead and mentor others while navigating a dynamic regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities- Analyze federal income tax issues for a diverse client base (multinational corporations, financial institutions, asset managers).
- Advise on complex tax matters involving debt, derivatives and digital assets.
- Determine debt vs. equity classification and tax treatment of interest accruals and interest expense limitations.
- Assess derivative classifications (e.g., notional principal contracts) and applicability of straddle rules.
- Evaluate tax consequences of lending digital assets.
- Lead projects or workstreams and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Build and sustain professional relationships and mentor junior team members.
Key requirements- 8+ years' experience in taxation in a law firm, public accounting firm, or similar environment
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days in person per week
- Active accreditation: CPA, licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, CFA or CFP (or ability to obtain CPA if eligible)
