Staff Product Manager, Consumer Money - Consumer Banking

Overview

In this role, you will own the Wallet experiences within Gusto Wallet, shaping financial products for hourly and salaried workers. You'll drive the product roadmap for consumer banking features that help users manage cash flow, saving, and earnings-across onboarding, usage, and retention. You'll work with cross-functional teams to build durable, compliant fintech systems tightly integrated with payroll infrastructure. Responsibilities
  • Own roadmap initiatives across Gusto financial services to improve spending, saving, credit, and money management
  • Ship consumer banking experiences across the full customer lifecycle and surfaces of engagement
  • Own the business outcomes of your workstream as a true owner
  • Serve as fintech infrastructure and payments expert to untangle complexity and deliver durable systems
  • Leverage Gusto's payroll position to build features unique to income origination
  • Develop deep understanding of customers to craft product narratives and drive financial progress
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Ops) to ship reliable, compliant products
  • Evaluate opportunities with external vendors (issuing banks, card processors, banking providers) for integrated experiences
  • Define KPIs around activation, funding, engagement, and retention to guide prioritization and iteration
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of product management experience in accounting, financial software, or a related domain
  • Familiarity with AI tools and comfortable building prototypes to accelerate development
  • Data-driven with experience using data to inform decisions and measure outcomes
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts (journal entries, reconciliation) and willingness to ramp in accounting product space
  • Able to handle ambiguity and wear multiple hats (research, forecasting adoption, prototyping)
  • Understanding of how individual features fit into broader accounting systems and complex workflows
  • Experience with detailed workflows, data mappings, ledger concepts, and controls for accounting confidence
  • Strong prioritization frameworks to align customer needs with business outcomes
