Overview In this role you will supervise the Chemistry department at Crouse Hospital, ensuring accurate tests and timely results. You will mentor staff, manage daily workflow, and ensure proper staffing and regulatory compliance. You'll drive continuous process improvements and maintain quality controls and QA records. Responsibilities- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Chemistry department
- Ensure tests are performed accurately and results reported timely
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor lab personnel
- Monitor daily workflow and ensure adequate assay coverage
- Ensure shifts are properly staffed
- Investigate production errors and escalate as needed
- Lead continuous process and service level improvements
- Maintain equipment through Quality Control
- Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records
- Evaluate process improvements and recommend changes
- Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports
- Perform bench work and maintain technical proficiency
- Ensure compliance with state and Federal regulations
- Administer policies and procedures
- Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
- Perform administrative duties as needed
Key requirements- Associate's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 4+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- New York state Laboratory Supervisor license eligible
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Understanding of CLIA, CAP and applicable state regulations
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to pass color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts
