Portfolio Manager - Commercial Real Estate Credit Delivery

Overview

In this role you will assess financial risk and structure credit for Commercial Real Estate clients. You'll work with Relationship Managers to target worthy projects, underwrite complex credits, and monitor portfolio performance to align with credit policy. You'll synthesize market and client data to inform credit decisions, while guiding junior teammates and coordinating with legal and final approvers. This is a hands-on, interdependent role at a financial institution focused on prudent risk management and client support.

Responsibilities
  • Lead diligence and underwriting for complex, high-value credit relationships and prepare credit presentations with final approvers
  • Ensure loan documentation aligns with approved terms and address issues in consultation with Relationship Manager
  • Analyze financial statements, projections, and risk factors for complex credits
  • Oversee portfolio performance and monitor market/industry trends impacting credit risk
  • Ensure Credit Process Metrics stay within tolerances and remediate identified issues
  • Manage pipeline of portfolio requests to meet client needs in a timely manner
  • Serve as primary client and internal contact for portfolio management, including potential site visits
  • Share real estate underwriting knowledge and stay current on market trends
  • Mentor and coach Analysts and Associates
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of credit principles
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints
  • Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment
