Overview In this role you support clinical laboratory operations, performing and verifying tests with precision while adhering to QC and CLIA requirements. You will handle specimen collection across age groups, operate lab equipment, and maintain compliance with HIPAA and safety policies. You collaborate with the team to evaluate new procedures and ensure accurate reporting of results. Responsibilities- Perform and report assigned laboratory tests with precision and accuracy
- Conduct quality control and maintain records of QC results
- Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment; maintain service records
- Collect specimens (blood and body fluids) with proper patient identification and labeling
- Prepare reagents and media; maintain inventory of supplies
- Train and guide colleagues on standard work practices and safety procedures
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Participate in evaluation of new procedures, equipment and methods
- Provide competent patient care across age groups and adapt procedures as needed
- Communicate and align with MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center values and safety policies
- Schedule and manage duties as part of a full-time evening shift
- Other duties as assigned by manager or department head
Key requirements- Bachelor in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical/physical/biological science
- MLS/MT (ASCP) registry required or completed within two years of hire
- Previous experience preferred
- CLIA high complexity testing qualifications
