Overview In this Internal Audit Manager role, you will lead a risk-focused audit function within a financial services environment in Michigan. You'll build risk-based audit plans and oversee engagements from planning to reporting, ensuring thorough, standards-aligned reviews. You will present findings and practical recommendations to senior leadership and the audit committee, supporting governance and risk mitigation. This role offers visibility to executives and collaboration with cross-functional partners to strengthen controls and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Lead the internal audit program by developing risk-based audit plans covering financial, operational, compliance, and technology exposures
- Direct audit engagements from planning through reporting with thorough documentation and alignment to industry standards
- Present audit results, control observations, and recommendations to senior leadership and the audit committee
- Evaluate internal controls across key business processes and suggest improvements to governance and risk mitigation
- Assess exposure related to banking and financial services activities, including compliance, financial reporting, conduct, and Bank Secrecy Act considerations
- Collaborate with business leaders to perform risk assessments and prioritize audit activity based on regulatory expectations and organizational impact
- Support oversight of governance, risk, and compliance practices and coordinate with enterprise risk and IT risk stakeholders
- Guide and develop audit team members, promoting consistent execution and high-quality deliverables
- Participate in limited travel to support audit activities and stakeholder meetings
