Responsibilities- Represent clients in lifesciences patent prosecution and litigation
- Draft and prosecute patent applications across biotech, pharma, gene therapy, medical devices, digital health
- Assist with domestic and international patent portfolios management
- Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, landscape, and IP analyses
- Develop litigation strategies for complex disputes in federal courts and other forums
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents
- Assist with fact and expert discovery, witness prep, depositions, and trial prep
- Represent patent owners and challengers in IPR proceedings before the PTAB
- Evaluate impact of post-grant proceedings on related litigation
- Collaborate with attorneys, scientists, and experts to analyze technologies and craft strategies
- Work with colleagues across jurisdictions to manage domestic and international IP disputes
- Advise clients on IP strategy, portfolio development, and enforcement
Key requirements- 3-5 years of post-JD experience in patent prosecution and patent litigation
- Undergraduate degree in Biology or related life sciences
- Strong bar admission in good standing
- Experience handling patents in biotech, pharma, gene therapy, medical devices, digital health
- Experience with patent portfolio development and management
- Knowledge of landscape analyses, patentability assessments, and IP strategy
- Experience litigating patent matters in federal courts and/or before ITC
- Familiarity with inter partes reviews before the PTAB
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Experience at large law firms or sophisticated IP practice preferred
