Overview In this role you will perform mechanical project estimation for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. You will work with architects, clients, and cross-functional teams to clarify project objectives and deliver accurate bids. You'll develop hard bids, source cost data from subcontractors, and ensure estimates align with schedules and scopes. This position combines technical takeoffs with stakeholder collaboration to support winning, cost-conscious proposals.
Responsibilities- Interact with architects, clients, business development, and operations to clarify project objectives and schedules
- Develop hard bids and pricing proposals in response to RFPs or requests
- Obtain cost information from subcontractors and suppliers to support estimates
- Calculate total project costs: materials, labor, equipment, and permits for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping)
- Read plans and perform comprehensive takeoffs
- Collaborate with team to deliver accurate, timely estimates across multiple projects
- Multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced construction environment
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Proficient in reading plans and performing takeoffs
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic environment
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Senior level with at least 5 years of estimating experience in a professional construction firm
