Overview In this role you drive the end-to-end delivery of LAUSD school construction, modernization, and repair projects. You will coordinate with district staff, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulators to deliver safe, code-compliant facilities on time and within budget. You'll manage schedules, budgets, permits, and safety, while minimizing disruption to school operations. Responsibilities- Lead all project phases from pre-construction to closeout, including planning, scheduling, cost control, permitting, construction administration, and commissioning
- Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, cash flow, and progress; implement corrective actions to hit milestones and financial targets
- Coordinate procurement and management of contractors and consultants; oversee bids, contracts, and change orders
- Ensure compliance with LAUSD standards, DSA, CBC, Title 24, ADA, and other permits
- Serve as main liaison with site administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to communicate plans and minimize disruption
- Implement site safety programs and ensure OSHA and LAUSD safety policy compliance; perform regular safety inspections
- Oversee quality assurance/control: submittals, RFIs, inspections, testing, punchlists
- Prepare and submit project documents, reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates; maintain records and as-built docs
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks; develop contingency plans and resolve issues impacting schedule, budget, or quality
- Lead project closeout activities: final inspections, turnover, training, and warranty coordination
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 5 years of PM experience delivering public K-12 or similar public-sector projects; direct LAUSD experience preferred
- Knowledge of DSA, CBC, Title 24, ADA, and public-school construction constraints
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, MS Project) and strong Excel skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management; experience with district leadership, school staff, community groups, and regulators
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, change orders, and contracts
- PMP, CCM, or equivalent certification preferred; OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
- Ability to pass LAUSD background checks and fingerprinting; valid CA driver's license; willingness to travel across LAUSD sites
