Overview In this role you will lead the estimating function for a growing electrical contractor focused on multifamily and commercial projects. You will guide budgeting, design development pricing, and bid strategy, shaping cost decisions early with cross-functional teams. You will build and mentor a high-performing estimating group and drive value engineering and cost savings for pursuit opportunities. Responsibilities- Assess new bid opportunities and shape pursuit strategy with the VP of Preconstruction
- Lead and develop the estimating team to deliver accurate budgets and estimates
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, and Design Development budgets and estimates
- Create electrical budgets from limited design information and early project docs
- Review drawings/specifications/design intent and lead bid preparation for multifamily and commercial projects
- Build relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and general contractors during preconstruction
- Lead value engineering efforts and cost-saving initiatives
- Manage bid strategy and conduct final proposal reviews with the estimating team
- Mentor and develop a high-performing estimating department
- Analyze labor productivity, pricing trends, market conditions, and subcontractor coverage
- Support executive leadership with forecasting, planning, and business development initiatives
Key requirements- 10+ years of progressive electrical estimating experience with increasing responsibility
- Strong background in multifamily wood-stick construction and commercial pipe & wire
- Experience preparing conceptual budgets, schematic estimates, DD budgets, and GMP budgets
- Strong NEC knowledge and understanding of commercial electrical systems
- Expertise in labor productivity analysis and unit cost development
- Ability to interact with developers, owners, and project stakeholders during early planning
- Colorado market experience (preferred)
