Overview As Counsel at Travelers, you will manage a caseload of primarily low-to-moderate complexity, applying your legal expertise to achieve optimal outcomes for insured clients. You will operate within a national legal organization with local focus, growing as a trusted advocate and business partner. You'll sharpen trial skills, conduct rigorous legal research, and lead junior staff while aligning file handling with Claim expectations. Responsibilities- Develop and apply trial skills to litigate cases to verdict
- Conduct rigorous legal research and craft persuasive writing and oral advocacy
- Supervise Associate Counsel and paralegals on research tasks
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other documents
- Attend court events and client meetings independently
- Provide case analysis and file-handling strategies to Claim partners and insured clients
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Utilize case management systems and technology according to office protocols
- Travel as required to meet business needs
- Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients
Key requirements- Juris Doctorate; graduate of an accredited law school
- Minimum of one year litigation practice or prior legal experience
- Active license to practice law in required state(s)
- Valid driver's license depending on location
- Insurance litigation experience is desirable
