Overview In this role you perform and interpret laboratory tests across complex levels to support patient care. You will work within a team at a Magnet-recognized hospital, applying theory and technical skills to inform care decisions. The position offers hands-on experience with researchers and specialists while maintaining rigorous quality and regulatory standards. You will contribute to education, documentation, and continuous improvement in the lab, shaping reliable test results for patients.
Responsibilities- Follow specimen handling and processing procedures and report results
- Perform laboratory testing in a compliant manner
- Maintain regulatory knowledge relevant to duties
- Adhere to quality control policies and document calibrations and maintenance
- Address quality control or quality assurance issues promptly
- Maintain instruments and equipment per manufacturer specs
- Ensure good documentation practices and clear records
- Perform proficiency testing per CLIA regulations
- Participate in continuing education and competency assessments
- Identify test performance or reporting problems and escalate as needed
- Educate and train students, staff, and residents in theory and lab skills
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology
- Meets CLIA high complexity testing personnel qualifications
- Diploma and/or transcripts provided; education verified; translations for foreign education if applicable
- Preferred: MT/MLT/MLS certification or certification eligibility from ASCP or AMT
