Overview In this role you will advance zebrafish behavior and immunology research in the Prober Lab. You will design and perform experiments, develop adaptable research assays, and analyze data with coding and statistics. You will generate transgenic and mutant lines, apply multiple imaging and histochemical techniques, and lead manuscript and grant writing. You will mentor team members, supervise projects, and maintain critical lab equipment, contributing to high-impact publications and grants.
Responsibilities- Conceptualize and perform experiments in zebrafish behavior and immunology
- Develop and adapt assays; code data analysis and apply statistics
- Generate transgenic and mutant zebrafish lines (CRISPR, microinjections)
- Perform behavior assays with video-tracking and various manipulations (mechanoacoustic, pharmacological, genetic, chemogenetic, optogenetic)
- Microscopy and histochemical analysis (epifluorescence, confocal, immunohistochemistry, in situ, HCR)
- Zebrafish husbandry: maintain lines and validate new lines
- Write research manuscripts and assist with grant applications
- Supervise technicians; mentor graduate students and postdocs; train in video-tracking
- Maintain and repair lab equipment; coordinate major repairs and vendor support
- Train lab members in conducting video-tracking experiments and data analysis
Key requirements- PhD in Biology
