Accounting Manager

In this role you will lead the build-out of a dedicated accounting team within a P&C insurer. You'll oversee underwriting-related accounting, support GAAP and STAT reporting, and drive a faster, more accurate monthly close. You collaborate across underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, treasury and finance to ensure data quality and effective controls. You will shape processes and automate manual tasks to improve efficiency and regulatory reporting. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear impact on reporting accuracy and operational effectiveness.

• Oversee underwriting accounting across multiple product lines, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Coordinate monthly close to ensure timely, complete, and accurate financials
• Support US GAAP and STAT reporting and quarterly/annual statements
• Review underwriting reconciliations, resolve discrepancies
• Calculate and review profit-sharing payable to distribution partners
• Prepare management reports and analyses highlighting results and drivers
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, ceded reinsurance, treasury and finance to improve data quality
• Maintain internal controls and documentation for auditors and regulators
• Contribute to finance initiatives to automate manual work and accelerate close

• Bachelor in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience; P&C experience required
• Knowledge of STAT accounting principles and US GAAP for insurance accounting
• Experience supporting regulatory reporting and Annual Statement preparation
• Strong analytical skills and ability to investigate discrepancies
• Effective communication and a collaborative, cross-functional approach
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet demanding deadlines
