Overview In this Senior Estimator role, you will lead MEP cost estimation for buildings and structures, reporting to the PMO Program Controls Manager and Lead Estimator. You will prepare and review construction cost estimates, perform material takeoffs, and analyze data to support cost containment and accuracy. You will work closely with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities and ensure bids align with design and scope. This is an impact-focused position in a leading PMCM and real estate development firm, offering exposure to diverse sectors and complex projects. Responsibilities- Plan and prepare construction cost estimates for buildings from drawings and specifications
- Evaluate consultant estimates for accuracy and uniformity
- Prepare fair estimates for contractor proposals on extras
- Conduct site visits for data gathering and estimate development
- Perform material takeoffs and quantity surveys for MEP systems
- Assess pricing data, vendor costs, and bid/change order analyses
- Prepare technical evaluations and cost estimates reports for management
- Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and architects on value engineering opportunities
- Identify discrepancies between estimates and contractor proposals
- Develop scope of work from RFI/RFC and estimate detailed costs independently
- Work independently or as part of a fast-paced team
- Perform basic Excel calculations
- Perform related estimating duties as assigned
Key requirements- Ten+ years of professional cost estimating experience in building construction, including 5-7 years in MEP estimating
- Expert in cost estimating theories, contract pricing, and contracting forms (DESIGN-BUILD, Design-Bid-Build, JOC)
- Full knowledge of construction methods, local costs, and MEP systems
- Experience developing and estimating change orders
