About the role:
The Safety Specialist will perform onsite construction safety related duties on a Data Center project in Reno, NV.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an owner's representative for safety
- Duties as required by 1926 OSHA Standards for Construction
- Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public
- Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings
- Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits
- Investigate incidents and complete associated paperwork
- Conduct risk assessments
- Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer
- Maintain all safety related documentation
Education/Qualifications/Skills:
- Fluent in English, written and verbal
- 5+ years of fleet, transportation, logistics, construction EHS, or related experience
- Experience in large construction, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or data center environments
- Strong knowledge of traffic management, struck-by hazards, mobile equipment, and vehicle-pedestrian safety
- Experience overseeing fleet vehicles, deliveries, buggies, carts, or UTVs strongly preferred
- Experience conducting field inspections, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up
- Strong contractor coordination, communication, documentation, and independent judgment skills
- Construction logistics or large-scale data center experience strongly preferred
- OSHA 30, transportation-safety, defensive-driving, or recognized EHS certification preferred
- Very polished and comfortable communicating with construction management, contractors, and drivers
- Approximately 70% field-based and 30% administrative/coordination work
What we offer:
The current project will be a 3 month duration with a potential to extend 1 year +. The schedule will vary, however, the expectation for the position is a minimum of 40 hours weekly as required by client. This is a 1099 contract no per diem; depending on experience, and ranges from $45-50 per hour. You must reside in the area and able to commute successfully for day-to-day operation. The schedule is M-F; however, flexibility is a must.
